RAD REGISTERED TEACHER

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Home: Welcome

My Philosophy

I aspire to teach children the art form of dance in a safe and supportive environment that nurtures growth and self confidence. I have been teaching dance for 7 years and love being able to share my knowledge with the students. I am passionate about dancing, as I was a dancer myself for 17 years. I offer quality coaching and choreography for both solo or group routines/classes. I specialize in: classical ballet, pointe, RAD coaching, contemporary, lyrical, conditioning and progressing ballet technique.
I hope to inspire young children to be the best version of themselves and love learning to dance along the way. Message me for further info or if you would like to have me visit your studio for permanent work or workshops.

A bit about me

At the age of 3, I developed a passion for dancing throughout dance schools in Sydney, Australia - competing in numerous dance competitions both as a soloist and in troupes. In 2013 I was awarded a one year dance scholarship at Dancenergy Studios on the Central Coast and in 2017 I was invited to attend the prestigious Dance Excellence Conference in Los Angeles. During my time in the US I performed at Disneyland, competed against people from all over the world and was taught by international recognised choreographers. I have taken classes at Broadway Dance Centre (New York), Sydney Dance Company (Australia), Pineapple Studios (London), Base Studio (London) and the RAD Headquarters (London) and continue to take regular classes and courses to keep learning and growing with the fast evolving dance industry.

I began my teaching career in 2014 and have since taught and choreographed award winning solos for competitions, as well as running and organising numerous successful dance workshops. In 2018 I was selected to be one of the choreographers at 'Wakakiri' - Australia’s largest performing arts event for schools, where my routine was selected for the State Award and Performance Award. Between 2016-2018 I completed my Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) through the Royal Academy of Dance, gaining full accreditation as an RAD graded and Vocational examinations teacher. Before moving to London in the beginning of 2019, I also completed the Level 1 Teacher Training Course with physiotherapist Lisa Howell, and in 2020 I attended various APPI physiotherapy workshops for dancers and dance teachers.

Since moving to London in 2019, I have complete some ‘Inspire Series’ teacher courses with the Royal Ballet School as well as viewing their summer school rehearsals at White Lodge and Covent Garden. With just over 7 years of teaching experience, I strive to nurture every individual’s passion for dance and help them teach their full potential.

My interesting and fun lesson plans, including the use of props, engages the students to want to learn and achieve the best out of themselves in every lesson. Students respond well to my encouraging and motivational way of teaching and this has shown in their RAD exam results (with a 100% pass rate and numerous distinctions) as well as competition results and overall confidence in the studio.

I am a reliable, dedicated and hard working teacher but most importantly a passionate one. I adore seeing the kids strive to reach their goals and come to my classes wanting to learn each week.

Testimonials

“Never have I had a teacher that has made me love something so much in such a short amount of time. I knew from the first lesson we had you, my passion for ballet would grow more than I ever thought. I appreciate all the hard work and dedication you have put into our classes and working on our technique. I will be forever grateful for the love you showed our grade class, for believing in me, for pushing me to be my best, for helping me to be more confident in ballet and supporting me in my first ever ballet exam. I would not have been able to do it without such a caring and dedicated teacher like you. You have taught me more than ballet steps and terms, you’ve taught me more than choreography, you have taught me how to work hard towards what I want and how to apply myself to be the best I can be.”

Kiara Takacs
(Student 17 y/o)

“I have had the pleasure of teaching, knowing and working alongside Annaliese for 5 years now, and she embodies everything characteristic of hardworking and passionate. She goes above and beyond to create an engaging class for her students, but most importantly, her caring approach to teaching and attention to the detail of classical ballet technique is rare to find. I have loved watching Annaliese grow into the compassionate teacher she is and know that she will be an invaluable asset to any studio she has the opportunity to work with.”
